After a prolonged absence from North America’s nightlife circuit, British underground trailblazer Paul Rose (commonly acknowledged by his artist alias, Scuba) will soon make his long-awaited return voyage across the pond.
Though unbeknownst to some music mainstreamers, Scuba’s honorable exploits have continuously driven Europe’s historic club culture. Judging from his vast discography alone (three full-length albums, numerous EPs, and a string of compilations), it’s impossible to deny his outspoken consistency as a producer. On the DJ side, his aptitude as a record selector has earned him a coveted residency (Sub:Stance) at the legendary Berghain in Germany.
Recently announcing a full-fledged touring campaign directed at the Western hemisphere, the multifaceted Hotflush mogul sets his scopes upon 10 major cities, from Mexico to Canada. Among his upcoming engagements, Scuba will grace a handful of the continent’s most predominant venues, including Brooklyn’s hottest nightclub, Output.
Jan. 5 pegs the first stop on his momentous tour, featuring an elaborate Hotflush showcase at Playa Del Carmen’s 6th annual BPM Festival. Accompanied by notable label-mates Jimmy Edgar, Agoria, and Recondite, the musical figurehead plans to storm the city’s paradise with his industrial brand of house, techno, and garage.
Considering Scuba rarely departs from his hallowed European homeland, we highly urge that you don’t miss out on his upcoming Vancouver appearance on Wednesday February 12th at Electric Owl Social Club.
